The Stunning view point (Pha Deang Peak) in Nong Kiaw

When you are planning for holiday in Laos, Luang Prabang will be surely in your program. But to make your time in Luang Prabang most memorable and seeing it really authentic, make sure you involved Nong Kiaw into your program as a must do requirement. It is approximately 140 km (3,5h drive) north from Luang Prabang. It is a small town, set on two shores of the Ou River, but rich in activities and with fabulous view. The View Point is one of the most stunning highlights of the region and a must visit for the 360 degree breath taking views.

The Nong Kiaw view point is an amazing site, with only 1.5h hike, set off from the another side of Nong Kiaw at Ban Sop Houn. The way to reach to the peak point is up quite a steep climb, but there are hand rails and rope to make your climb much easier. It is well worth it, to see the stunning view and everyone who tries it, can do it. Just ensure you have a good pair of shoes, bring plenty of water and and it is also recommended to bring a torch with you in case you set up your hike at dawn or in the evening for sun set. You will admire the amazing sea of mist if you set it up at dawn (for sunrise). The evening is also very popular for a wonderful sunset view. You feel like you are on top of the world when you have reached its peak. While you are enjoying the panoramic views, and before returning to bottom, make sure you do not leave any plastic or rubbish on the peak, to help keep it "green".

The best time to visit this site is in the dry season from Oct – May. Due to the path's condition, in the rainy season it would be muddy up and more slippery. However hand rails, ropes and also resting points to support and help make your climb easier and always possible. Visit's to this site are not only for its amazing view's, but you will enjoy its jungle and biology on the way up hill.
